DIY - HOMEMADE LAUNDRY DETERGENT

This DIY laundry detergent is so easy to make that your kids could do it themselves! With only 4 ingredients needed, it cut costs and provides you with clean laundry without all of the harsh chemicals. Perfect for those going into flats in the next year. 

Meredith says  "I stopped using chemically laden detergent over 10 years ago as it aggravated my skin, and I needed something fragrance free for my babies. I'll never return back to it now! When not using this, we use Thieves laundry detergent (always cash in my ER points for this)! Be sure to complete your load with wool dryer balls in your dryer! Fabric softeners are full of chemicals!"

This recipe calls for citrus oils, but any oils will do.

HOMEMADE LAUNDRY DETERGENT:
1 cup Washing Soda
1 cup Borax
1- 5 oz. bar Castille soap

20 drops lime or lemon essential oil (or whichever other oil you prefer)

DIRECTIONS:

1. Grate the Castille soap with a cheese grater or food processor. It took me less than 5 minutes to grate, so that’s quicker for making a batch than hauling out my food processor. However, for big batches, I suggest the food processor.

2. In a large bowl or half gallon mason jar, mix all ingredients with a spoon. I poured half of everything in the large jar, stirred it well and then added the remaining half of the ingredients. I used a funnel to keep tidy.

3. Use 1-2 tablespoons laundry detergent for a load of laundry.

4. Store in mason jars with a lid or these containers with a tablespoon inside.

This recipe makes 24 ounces of detergent.
